Outside Plant Specialist
Those who have earned the OSP designation have demonstrated through testing, their knowledge in OSP right-of-way and route design; OSP space design (maintenance holes, ducts, vaults); underground, direct-buried, and aerial plant design; OSP cabling hardware; and OSP grounding, bonding and electrical protection systems.OSP Specialist candidates are tested on their ability to understand and apply a vast collection of OSP technology and design information. Those awarded the OSP designation will demonstrate knowledge in:
- Right-of-way
- Route design
- Media selection
- Cabling hardware
- Grounding (earthing), bonding and electrical protection systems
- A minimum of two years of approved and verifiable design experience in outside plant design. Generic ITS/distribution system design or experience in another area of specialization is not acceptable.
- Successfully completed the ITS Fundamentals examination or hold a current RCDD.
