Course Descriptions

Discover the multiple processes behind designing optical fiber networks.

The complete and versatile network designer requires extensive knowledge of optical fiber cabling. In this 4-day course, you will gain a focused understanding of the optical fiber network design process with knowledge of four key aspects: the components of a fiber network, the design process, the cost process and the design package.

This class will teach you how to establish installer acceptance values that result in maximum installed reliability. By developing a full design package, you will learn how to create specifications, comply with the limitations in the data standards, ensure installed reliability and estimate total installed cost.

Topics include:
> Components of an optical fiber network, including the product and specification options available
> Requirements and specifications of proper optical fiber performance
> Reliable network operation
> CCTV, CATV, process control and FTTH/PON links
> Network cost estimation and selection
